太極法則 #1


“永遠不要試圖控制自身之外的任何事物。

如果你去控制,你就失去了平衡。”


秤處于平衡時,它保持靜止不動。

因此,平衡與止靜相關。

當一個外在的力施加于我們(如,推力),我們不再感到舒適或平衡。并非將注意力集中于怎么控制外界的力,而是自問,我需要做什么才能回到平衡狀態?我們相應而動。于是我們不再專注于外界之力,我們專注于內在。


施用外力之人試圖控制我們,因此而失去平衡。如果我們抵抗或反抗對方施加的力,那么我們就是在試圖通過控制他們來控制我們自己。因此雙方都失去平衡。


最好的方式是,只要集中精力于如何恢復我們自身的平衡。


將此應用于我們的日常生活之多就像應用在武術訓練中那般頻繁。由靜至動,再回歸靜止。靜止狀態即是“無極”;使其回到靜止的運動我們稱之為“太極”。

"Never try to control anything outside of yourself.

When you do, you are out of balance."


When a scale is balanced, there is no movement. If we put something on the scale it will move until it is balanced, then it will stop again. So balance is associated with stillness. This balanced state we call wuji.


When an outside force is applied to us (ex - a push), we no longer feel comfortable or balanced. Rather than focus on controlling that outside force, we ask ourselves, what do I need to do to go back to that balanced state? And we move accordingly. So we are not focused on the outside force, we are focused inside.


The person applying a force is trying to control us, and so is out of balance. If we resist or fight against their force, then we are trying to control them control us. So we are both out of balance.


The best is just to concentrate on how to restore our balance.

This applies in our daily lives as much as it does in martial art training. From stillness to movement, and back to stillness. The stillness state is wuji. The movement we make to go back to stillness is taiji movement.
