2012年4月，加拿大簽證申請中心頒布了一項留學生赴加簽證利好政策——SDS計劃，以取代及優化原來的GIC計劃。SDS的全稱是Study Direct Stream,即“學習直入計劃”。新的SDS計劃與舊的GIC計劃相比，進一步拓寬了學生語言成績要求和學校錄取的范圍，對有意留學加拿大的中國學生來說，又是一項重要利好。

要求：

有條件錄取通知書亦被認可

1、雅思達到6分或6分以上（單科要求過6）的成績，或法語達到TEFB2/Level4或以上的成績或來自在華加拿大海外高中的被認可的加拿大高中文憑；

2、和原有的GIC計劃相比，SDS計劃放寬對錄取通知書的要求，不再只接受直接入讀專業課的錄取通知書，有條件錄取通知書（雙錄?。┮脖患{入可申請的條件以內，申請的學校包括了加拿大公立大學和學院。

3、SDS計劃還保留了GIC計劃原有的資金簡化條例，即在指定銀行存1萬加幣，并預交1年學費，并提供一定數量的擔保金等簽證材料

Get your study permit faster through the Student Direct Stream

If you’re a legal resident in certain countries, you may be able to get your study permit faster by applying online through the Student Direct Stream.

Step 1: Make sure you have what you need

To apply online, you’ll need:

a scanner or camera to create electronic copies of your documents, and

a valid credit or debit card.

Step 2: Read the instruction guide

Even if you apply online, you should read the instruction guide before you complete your application. The guide will explain how to complete each field on the form.

Step 3: Prepare your answers for the online tool

Before you can upload your forms, you must answer some questions. We use your answers to create a personalized document checklist for you.

Step 4: Know the fees you have to pay

In most cases, your fees will include:

processing fees for you and anyone you include on your application and

biometrics

We’ll ask you to pay your fees at the end of your application.

Third-party fees

Depending on your situation, you may need to pay third parties for:

medical exams

police certificates

language testing, and

services at a visa application centre if you use one

You won’t pay these fees in your online account. You’ll pay them directly to the third party.

Biometrics fee

In most cases, you should pay a biometrics fee when you submit your application. Otherwise you may experience delays. The biometrics fee covers the cost of collecting fingerprints and a digital photo. Find out if you need to give your biometrics.

Step 5: Create your online account or sign in

If you need an eTA or visa

If you need an electronic travel authorization (eTA) or visa, we’ll issue it automatically at the same time as your study permit. You don’t need to apply separately or pay another fee.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for faster processing through the Student Direct Stream, you must:

be a legal resident living in 1 of the following countries:

Antigua and Barbuda，Brazil，China，Colombia，Costa Rica，India，Morocco

Pakistan，Peru，Philippines，Senegal，Saint Vincent and the Grenadines，Trinidad and Tobago，Vietnam

have an acceptance letter from a post-secondary designated learning institution

live outside of Canada when you apply

have proof you have paid your tuition for your first year of study

have a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of CAN$10,000

have a Certificat d’acceptation du Québec (CAQ) from the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration

This is only if you’re planning to study in Quebec

get a medical exam before you apply (if you need one)

get a police certificate before you apply (if you need one)

have your most recent secondary or post-secondary school transcript(s)

have a language test result that shows either:

an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) academic or general training score of 6.0 or higher in each skill (reading, writing, speaking and listening), or a Test d’évaluation de fran?ais (TEF) score that is equal to a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score of at least 7 in each skill (reading, writing, speaking and listening) Depending on where you’re applying from, you may also need to provide other documents. Make sure you include all the documents required by the visa office that processes your application.

We may ask you to give additional documents to support your application. In this situation, your application will take longer to process.

Who isn’t eligible for the Student Direct Stream

If you live anywhere other than 1 of the countries listed above (even if you’re a citizen of one of the countries above), you must apply through the regular study permit application process.

If you live in another country (even if you’re a citizen of one of the countries above), or if you don’t meet the eligibility for faster processing, you may still be eligible for a study permit through the regular study permit application process.

Proof of full payment of tuition for the applicant’s first year of study

This may be in the form of the following:

a receipt from the DLI

an official letter from the DLI confirming payment of tuition fees

a receipt from a bank showing that tuition fees have been paid to the DLI

proof that the tuition fee amount has been transferred into a repository account at the DLI to be applied to the tuition bill at a later date

Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC)

A GIC is a Canadian investment that has a guaranteed rate of return for a fixed period of time. Many banks offer GICs. The bank that gives you the GIC must:

confirm that you bought a GIC by giving you 1 of the following:

a letter of attestation

a GIC certificate

an Investment Directions Confirmation or

an Investment Balance Confirmation

hold the GIC in an investment account or a student account that you can’t access until you arrive in Canada

make you confirm your identity before they release any funds to you

release the funds to you by providing:

an initial lump sum once you identify yourself upon arrival in Canada

the remainder of the funds in monthly or bi-monthly installments over 10 to 12 months

If your bank or GIC doesn’t meet these criteria, you won’t be able to apply through the Student Direct Stream.

Financial institutions that offer GICs

You can get a GIC from a financial institution listed on the Canadian Deposit Insurance Company website. Make sure the financial institution you choose offers a GIC and meets the criteria for the Student Direct Stream.

Depending on where you’re applying from, you may need to get a medical exam or police certificate. To get faster processing through the Student Direct Stream, you must include these with your application (if you need them). If you don’t, we won’t process your application faster.

Who needs a medical exam

You may need to get a medical exam if:

you lived or travelled in certain countries or territories for 6 or more months in the year before you come to Canada, or

you plan on studying or working in:

the health field

primary or secondary education, or

child or elder care

To get a medical exam, you must see a doctor that has been approved by IRCC.

Your visa office instructions will tell you if you need to get a police certificate. You’ll find these instructions when you select your country of residence below. Make sure you read these instructions before you apply, so you know if you need a police certificate or any other documents to apply.

have a medical exam scheduled, contact the panel physician’s office to ensure that it is still taking place would like to schedule an immigration medical examination (IME), contact the panel physician’s office to check that they’re open and performing exams.If your application is in progress and you can’t complete your IME due to COVID-19, find out what to do if you still have documents to provide for your application.

When to get your medical exam

You can either get your medical exam before or after you apply.

Getting an exam before you submit your application

You have the option of getting an exam before you apply. This is called an upfront medical exam. To get one, contact a panel physician directly.

You can get one if you apply to:

visit (including parent and grandparent super visa)
work
study

Getting an exam after you submit your application

We’ll send you instructions on how to get your medical exam done. You must go for your medical exam within 30 days of receiving these instructions.

If you don’t follow these instructions, we may refuse your application.

What to bring

When you go to your appointment for the medical exam, you must bring:

proper identification – at least 1 government-issued document with your photograph and signature, such as a passport or national identity card

You may also use a Canadian driver’s license, but only in Canada

eye glasses or contact lenses, if you wear them
any medical reports or test results that you have for any previous or existing medical conditions
a list of your current medications
the Medical Report form (IMM 1017E), if you don’t have an up-front medical exam

If the panel physician doesn’t use eMedical, you must bring 4 recent photographs.

Contact the panel physician before your appointment to find out.

Bring any proof of previous vaccination for COVID-19, if you have one.

This is not mandatory.
The panel physician will include this record with your exam.

If you’re referred for an x-ray or other tests, you may be asked to present your identification again when you go for those tests.

What you need to pay for

You must pay all fees related to the medical exam when you’re there, including:

the fee for the doctor or radiologist
any special tests, investigations or treatment needed
any specialists you need to see

If we refuse your application after your medical exam, we won’t refund those fees.

Refugees and asylum seekers are exempt from paying the fees.

What to expect during your exam

Only an approved panel physician can do a complete medical exam for immigration reasons.

When you arrive

The panel physician or clinic staff will ask you for identification to confirm your identity. If you’re referred for an x-ray or other tests, you may be asked to present your identification again when you go for those tests. Your picture will also be taken for our records.

Medical history questionnaire

The doctor will fill out a medical history questionnaire with you. This questionnaire is about any previous or existing medical conditions. They’ll also ask you about any medications you’re taking.

It’s important to tell the panel physician about any previous or existing medical conditions. Processing your medical exam could take longer if you don’t.

Physical examination

You’ll undergo a physical exam.

The doctor or medical clinic staff will:

weigh you
measure your height
check your hearing and vision
take your blood pressure
feel your pulse
listen to your heart and lungs
feel your abdomen
check how your limbs move
look at your skin

The doctor or medical clinic staff won’t examine your genitals or rectal area. These parts of the body aren’t required for the immigration medical exam.
The doctor may need to examine your breasts. If they do, they will:

provide you with an explanation of why and how the examination is being done

Other possible tests

Depending on your age, you may be asked to do chest x-rays and laboratory tests at the clinic or a laboratory. This is routine screening and the doctor will discuss any abnormal results with you.

You may be referred to a specialist for more testing, depending on the results of your medical exam. Complete this request as soon as possible to avoid delays in the processing of your medical examination.

COVID-19 vaccination

The panel physician may offer you a Government of Canada-accepted COVID-19 vaccine if it is available. Vaccination is completely voluntary and is not required as part of your exam.

If you receive the COVID-19 vaccine during your exam, the panel physician will record it.

If you’ve already been vaccinated for COVID-19, even if you have only received 1 dose,

bring proof of your vaccination to your exam

proof can be a paper copy or an electronic version

the panel physician will record your proof of vaccination with your exam
keep a copy of the vaccination record given to you by the panel physician

Right to have a chaperone

You have the right to a chaperone at any time during the medical exam.

You may:

ask the medical clinic to have a staff member in the room
stop the exam at any time to ask questions about what the doctor is doing
stop the exam and ask for a chaperone, even if you refused one at first

If you have questions or feel uncomfortable with a part of the exam, please ask the panel physician to stop and tell them about your concerns.

After your exam is done

Once the exam is done, the physician will send us the results. The doctor will give you a document confirming that you had a medical exam.

Whether you took an upfront exam or not, keep a copy of the print out given to you by the panel physician as proof of your immigration medical exam.

If you’re unsatisfied with how the panel physician or panel radiologist did your medical exam, you may:

When to send your medical exam results

Whether you took an upfront exam or not, the doctor will send us the results.

Keep a copy of any document or print out given to you by the panel physician as proof of your immigration medical exam.

If you took an upfront medical exam

You must include a copy of the IMM 1017B Upfront Medical Report form that the doctor gave you after your exam. If the doctor works with eMedical, they’ll give you an information sheet print out.

You must attach that form to your paper application. If you apply online, you must upload that form before you can submit your application.

If you took a medical exam after you submitted your application

There is no further action required on your part.

How long your medical results are good for

Your medical exam results are good for 12 months only.

If you don’t come to Canada as a visitor, student or worker within that time, you may need to do another exam.

Getting a copy of your medical exam

If you want a copy of your medical exam, please ask the doctor when you’re there.

Medical reports and x-rays for the medical exam become our property. We cannot return them to you.
